In the north are the Himalayas, and below is the region of Sakka, with the cities of Sāvatthi, Kapilavatthu (where the Buddha was born) and Kusinara (where the Buddha attained total unbinding). In the middle are, from west to east, Kosambi, Vārāṇasī and Vesālī. Below that are, from west to east, Uruvelā, Gayā and Rājagaha.
